STG Grand Lake Tank Farm: FSS 45DC Polyurea
MARKET: Tank Lining : Concrete Substrate
SYSTEM: FSS 45DC Elastomeric Polyurea
PROJECT: FSS 45DC over non-woven Geotextile
OWNER: STG, GrandLake Tank Farm
CONTRACTOR: Top Cor Services / Fast Set Coatings
The STG Grandlake tank farm was experiencing leakage in their ground-based metal storage tanks. Many of these tanks were over 40 years old at the time of rehabilitation. A layer of rapid set concrete had been placed but was still showing leakage. VersaFlex’s pure polyurea technology was chosen due to the rapid set/cure and nearly immediate return to service. Due to the chemical environment, the system was top-coated with FNEC 2369, a polysulfide modified Novolac epoxy system.
Due to the condition of the tank bottom, a non-woven geotextile fabric was used. VersaFlex’s FSS 45DC was applied at a dry film thickness of 80—100 mils (2.0—2.5 mm) to the floor area and approximately 1 foot (30.5 cm) up the tank sides. Following the application of the FSS 45DC, 2 coats of FNEC 2369 was then applied using rollers at a dry film thickness of about 10 mils (0.25 mm) for each coat.
